‘Why are We Willing to Live With This Carnage?’

When President Biden uttered those words, the families of 19 beautiful children and two dedicated educators had their worlds shattered forever – lives lost to yet another senseless act of gun violence, this time at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas.

We know how horrific this news is – to parents, to students, and to you – the educators who teach, mentor, guide, comfort, and love the children entrusted to you every day. We also know that you may be struggling to make sense of this tragedy to your students. NEA has put together resources that may be helpful over the coming days as we all take in the enormity of this terror. To all of you, take care of yourselves, your colleagues, your loved ones, and your students. They need you now more than ever.
