South Burlington Teachers to Vote on Tentative Contract Agreement That Averted Strike
Ratification vote set for today at South Burlington High School
SOUTH BURLINGTON – A potential strike was averted early this morning after the South Burlington School Board reached a tentative contract agreement with the city’s teachers.
“I am pleased that we were able to reach an agreement that preserves our great schools, that moves us away from the tumult of the past year, and that continues to ensure that South Burlington’s students have access to an outstanding education,” said Noah Everitt, a South Burlington High School special education teacher who serves as the spokesman for the South Burlington Educators’ Association.
“As we’ve said, reaching an agreement requires compromise on both sides, and, tonight, we and the board were able to find common ground,” Everitt said. “We can now move forward together focusing on what matters most: our students.”
Details of the agreement will be available once it is ratified by teachers and by the board. Teachers plan to vote on the pact this afternoon at 3:45 pm.
